By Mike Whatley

Henderson, NC – August 30-31, 2008; Lexington, NC resident and well known local tournament angler David Wright put together two days of consistent catches to best the field of Division 5 qualifiers at the North Carolina 2-Day Division Championship. His combined weight of 28.50 pounds was topped off by the second largest bass on the boater side at 4.09 pounds. This fish capped off a 13.42 pound limit on the second day of competition, and helped David secure his win with over a two pound margin of victory. Wright also weighed a limit on day one, tipping the scales at 15.02 pounds.  His first place victory earned him the guaranteed $5,000 purse plus 400 points toward qualifying for the regional event.

J.J. Judd Claims Back to Back Champlain Wins

By Gary Conner

J J JuddLake Champlain has unparalleled bass fishing.  Just ask Sheldon, VT. angler J.J. Judd.  J.J. put together a solid pattern to catch over 19 pounds of bass and capture the win … last week.  Rarely does an angler put together a solid pattern like that to win, but it is even rarer to do so two weeks in a row!  With a solid limit of largemouth bass weighing 22.01 pounds, J.J. captured his second consecutive win in the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series New York East division on Lake Champlain.  Not only did he win both events, he also caught big fish in both events, this week catching a 5.88 pound largemouth to anchor his creel.  J.J has now won $10,565 in just two weekends.

By Gary Conner

Rob GrikeLa Plata, MD – August 16 & 17, 2008 – Throughout the years Woodbridge, Virginia angler Robert Grike has taken every opportunity to learn from his good friend Todd Langford.  Todd taught him a lot about the flipping techniques Rob used to claim the first place $5000 prize in the Bassmaster Weekend Series Maryland Division Championship this weekend.  At the awards ceremony Rob wasted little time in thanking Todd for all he had done for him throughout the years.  His good friend Todd finished in second, trailing by a little over two pounds.
